with vaulted heads. In its original state this building may have been of wood, but after a fire it was rebuilt in stone, with two stories. In the northeastern part of the precinct there was a building that extended from the donjon to the eastern wall of the fortress, resting against the northern wall of the Resava stronghold. Its plan was about 33 meters long, and this building was approximately 8.5 meters wide. This building had a ground floor and one upper story, with wooden floor structures. Since no remains of stone façade walls were found during the archaeological investigations, while a good deal of charred wood and a large quantity of roof tiles were found, it is assumed that the building was built of wood and roofed with tiles. Like most other structures, this building too perished in a fire. On the site of this building there now stands the monastery guest lodging with the library.
Buildings in the Eastern Part of the Precinct
In the eastern part of the precinct stood the largest building in the monastic complex; this building was about 60 meters long and about 9 meters wide. This building extended along the eastern fortress rampart, and judging by the remains of beam sockets, it had a ground floor and one upper story. Its structure was rebuilt after a fire, and the ground floor was raised to a higher level because the ground had been built up. The site of this building is today occupied by the monastery lodging.
Buildings in the Southern Part of the Precinct
On the southeastern side of the Manasija precinct, set against the fortress wall east of the Resava refectory, there stood a building of unknown purpose, 14.5 meters long and about 8.5 meters wide, as archaeological investigations have shown. Since there are no beam sockets for floor structures on the rampart against which this building rested, it is not possible to determine whether this building had an upper story. In the southeastern zone of the interior of the Resava fortress, to the right of the entrance to the precinct, there stood a three-part building of complex form, with a total length of about 30 meters. Its first part is rectangular in form, 12 meters long and about 6.5 meters wide, and rests against the fortress wall and the quadrangular tower located southeast of the hexagonal
