The Charter to the Athonite Monastery of Saint Panteleimon - Rusikon

Desiring to attain glory on high, those who fulfill the divine commandments of the Gospel clearly received into their minds the praiseworthy teaching of the law of the Lord: "For if ye love me," said [the Lord], "keep my commandments!" [Jn. 14, 15]. And so, having fittingly adorned themselves with various virtues as with the flowers of paradise, straightway there flowed forth the delights of divine understanding. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" [Rom. 8, 14]. Therefore they too dwell with Christ in the light that knows no setting, for He [Christ] Himself said: "Where I am, there shall also my servant be" [Jn. 12, 26]. And of these did the God-forefather among the prophets, David, once proclaim, clearly and aloud, that all might know, saying: "Blessed are all they that fear the Lord, and that walk in His ways" [Ps. 127, 1].

Earnestly desiring to become heirs of their blessedness and glory, I, the pious and Christ-loving nun Jevgenija, with my God-given children, the pious Prince Stefan and his brother Vuk, humbly fall upon my knees, praying to God and to His Most Pure Mother and to the Holy Great Martyr of the Lord Panteleimon - of the monastery called "of the Russians," which is on the Holy Mountain of Athos - that he may be to us a close helper and in sorrow a deliverer.

For this reason we have offered this small gift to the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon, that it may be to the glory of God and of the Most Pure Mother of God, and in praise of and as a gift to the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon.
